We Are Here
Project Brief:
Create a series of Collages that responds to the prompt ‘We Are Here’. It could be a physical space such as the local area around UTS or where you live /come from. It could also be about your culture or a state of mind at this point in time.
In responding to this brief, I drew from my experience of being new to a big city. When I first moved from Newcastle to Sydney it was a stark difference and was difficult to adjust to at times. The sprawling-built environment combined with the huge population meant I sometimes felt out of place or lonely. These collages focus on a sense of finding home within the chaos and noticing that every individual is living in their own version of the city. A process of photographing and collage was how I created these A5 prints. I focused on black and white photography contrasting it with vibrant papers.
